Burning El-Baradei

After burning over and over our spy chief Omar Soliman ,it seems that the turn is on Mohamed El-Baradei.

The newspapers in Egypt have considered him the only civilian liberal rival for Gamal Mubarak and our independent presidential candidate for 2011 despite the fact the man has not declare his intentions to run for presidency from near or far lately. Al Baradei in IAEA

Of course Omar Soliman, the silent military political rival is still the favorite realistic rival but from time to time our press likes to dream and speak about  civilian liberal candidate other than Ayman Nour especially with later latest personal problems in his house.

Ayman Nour was fitting the profile but there are legal reasons standing against his candidacy in the next elections if they will to be held on their time not to mention his family troubles do have an effect on the public opinion whether he denies that or not , he is not that popular like when he got out of jail.

Nour has already been burnt and thus the search was on and names from time to time were said despite some of these names did not show any interest from near or far to role.

People began to think about El-Baradei right after his interview with Mona El-Shazely ,the man whom the Egyptians know nothing about except that he heads the IAEA and is the fourth Egyptian to win a Noble prize stunned all of us including the regime itself with what he had said regarding politics and corruption in general. Since then and  as a result  of leadership absence in Egypt many people saw in him a project of a President , that man should stand against Mubarak or Son in the next elections especially that has left the IAEA .

The regime did not like the interview in general and he did not give a damn for them ,they do not hold anything against and the fact that the regime did not like his talk made him more and more popular among the people.

Weeks after the interview we find silly rumors saying that Al Wafd party is trying to convince him to run for presidency in the next presidential representing the old liberal party. Of course it is silly rumor because Al Wafd is no longer a real opposition party , it is just a puppet party headed by the minister of agriculture’s brother !! Still this silly rumor opened the speculations doors and made many people think about this person as our president.

If I am not mistake I believe that this rumor was a measuring tool used by the regime itself to see the public reaction on that man whom they never expected to be a real danger on their continuity in rule.

The results were shocking for the regime I suppose because most of the people liked the idea , now from time to time you hear rumors from that kind : MB is talking currently with El-Baradi, Saad El-Din Ibrahim mentioned his name in some lecture in the States.. etc. The opposition and independent press for its side have considered him a real candidate as if it were a fact !!

El-Baradi from side did not say anything except that he is willing to return Egypt in order to serve the country in the best way ,Egypt needs the best.

Technically El-Baradi can’t run for the office because of he is independent , he is not a member in any party and even if he is , that party should be represented in the current parliament , this is from the constitutional and legal point of views.

Yes El-Baradi seems a perfect candidate , I can’t hide my admiration about his personality but I am also realistic, he won’t run for the office , he could be in danger ,if he wants to be a president because unlike Nour also Gamal Mubarak has a huge political experience due to his work.

I believe El-Baradei is just like Omar Soliman being burnt and burnt over and over

  1. with all respect I think D.r Brad3y isn't fit for the presidency.. and I have my reasons:

1- his age: the man is above 65 and we need a young president with a new vision especially that according to some statistics 65% of the Egyptian population are below the age of 25.

2- the man had never practiced politics, even when he was young he neither joined political parties nor had his own political view.

3- D.r Brad3y is a respectable man and he befriended many presidents like in the case of Jaque chiraque. but he never ever said a word against the regime of Mubarak not even a single word to condemn the dictatorship in Egypt,

4- he denied any kinds of attempts to run for presidency.. ah I forgot and he also didn'toppose the upcoming hereditary (aka Al-Tawrith).

  2. @anonymous, let my answer back in the same points you used

1-tell me where is that young president you are speaking about ?? Do not tell me Ayman Nour nor Gamal Mubarak , it is not about new vision , more about experience and wisdom and politics

2- never practiced politics , come on and what he is doing in the IAEA exactly !!?? do you think that because he has never joined a political party in Egypt he is not a politician !!?? well Mubarak did not join any political party either before the revolution nor he had any political activity. we do not know his political views or at least some of his political views due to his high diplomatic position yet I was impressed and still am with the political views he expressed , he condemned the attack on the Gaza war by his own way refusing a BBC interview because their refusal to launch a relief call for Gaza , he was the few Egyptian personalities that talked reasonably about Obama's speech in Egypt

3-Did you watch or hear about his interview !!?? Due to his former position Baradei could not directly criticize Mubarak and his dictatorship but what he said in his interview in which I recommend you to watch again

4-I mentioned this in the post , regarding the hereditary well no body has asked him directly but the man who wishes to limit the presidency periods to only 2 seems to oppose the hereditary

Look I am not with or against yet the man is not bad compared to other names mentioned in the race
