The UN and Suez War Crisis : A Walk to Remember

The United Nations general assembly issued resolution No.1001 "ES-1"  ,resolution came fair to Egypt mostly thanks to Both Hammarskjold and Canadian minister of external affair Lester Pearson "who won a Nobel Prize for Peace in 1957 for his great efforts in to bring peace in that crisis",already Canada disapproval to the war threatened the union of the common wealth

The resolution No.1001 was proceeded by other two resolution issued on the 4th and the 5th of November 1956 yet 1001 was mostly remember for two reasons

First it was the first time "may be the last time too" the United Nations general assembly used one of its extensive powers and issue a resolution all parties related to it ,implied to it , it was from the rare times and may be the only Time Israel was obligated to imply to UN resolution"

The Suez Crisis never made it to the security council simply because according to resolution 377 of the general assembly ,the security council failed to "exercise its primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security", as a result of the "lack of unanimity of the permanent members", already you UK and France got Veto power and U.S.S.R and U.S got Veto too ,two Permanent member were already an associate in the problem ,I think that something new you didn't know

Mr Hammarskjold was a very good secretary general

Here is a Time cover in year 1956 , presenting Hammarskjold on the cover and both the UN flag and the map of Egypt ,the part of Suez Canal and Sinai ,with three rifles in the west and east coast of the Suez canal and on the borders of Sinai presenting the Peace Keeping forces which would take place in the following places
